I need to create my last will and testament. I didn’t know if I did a video will, if that would be a recognized by the courts as a legitimate document of my last wishes. I’ve seen them use them on tv and in the movies, but not sure if they are legal or if they also have to be backed up with a written and signed document.
I really have no property, the only things I need in there are for my son to pretty much get everything and for him to receive it in a trust overseen by an executor.
I’d also like to designate a gardian for him. His father abandoned us when my son was just a baby, so I don’t want him to come out of the woodworks for custody, so I have a list of people set as guardians all close family members. I do know birth parents are usually the prefered guardians, but I hope with my pleas and and a close look at his record, that they would recognize that he’s unfit and give custody to one of my guardians.
So would all of that in a video will be legal in probate/family court?
I live in Connecticut and my son is now 12 years old.
